Annual Report 1997-98
| Goal 1: |
The Section is co-sponsoring (with the Molecular Biology and Genomics
Special Interest Group) a pre-MLA conference all-day symposium on
Saturday, May 23, 1998, titled "Impact of Genomics on Twenty-first
Century Medicine ". We will continue to sponsor the MI Career Development
Award although there were no applicants this year. A List of Medical
Informatics course links to other web sites has been developed and
is ready to put on the MIS homepage. |
| Goal 2: |
As of January, 1998 the MI Section has a total of 474 members an
increase of 165 since January, 1997 |
| Goal 3: |
The new MIS homepage site is located at the University of Rochester
Medical Center (temporarily until the permanent MLA site is ready).
The site replaces the print newsletter and contains the 1998 annual
conference program. It will be used as a tool to communicate information
to current members. |
| Goal 4: |
The Section is sponsoring additional sessions (invited speakers
and papers) on digital libraries, evidence-based medicine, evaluating
information technology and public health. |
| Goal 5: |
The Section has an appointed liaison to the government Relations
Committee. |
MOTION: This report is informational and requires no action by the Board
of Directors.
